The Liverpool medical team faced a challenging task during the first half of Saturday's match against Brentford, as Curtis Jones (shin) and Diogo Jota (knee) were forced off before halftime, with Nunez also succumbing to discomfort at halftime.

While Nunez's status for Wednesday's game remains uncertain, Klopp has indicated that Jota's knee injury is significant, making it likely that Mohamed Salah will make his first start for Liverpool since New Year's Day.

Following reports of another injury to Salah from Egypt after the Brentford match, Klopp has confirmed the need for further assessment on the former Chelsea player.

In addition to Jota and Salah, Liverpool continues to contend with several other sidelined players, including Stefan Bajcetic (calf), Joel Matip (knee), Ben Doak (knee), Thiago Alcantara (muscle), Dominik Szoboszlai (thigh), and Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee). Furthermore, Alisson Becker suffered a hamstring injury in the team's pre-Brentford training session, leading to Caoimhin Kelleher's expected third successive Premier League start.

Liverpool's challenges are mirrored by Luton, who lost top scorer Elijah Adebayo to a hamstring injury during warm-up on Sunday, ruling him out of the upcoming match alongside Jacob Brown, who underwent knee surgery. Mads Andersen (calf) and Marvelous Nakamba (knee) join Adebayo and Brown on the absentee list, along with captain Tom Lockyer, whose future in competitive play remains uncertain following distressing health issues.

Additionally, January signing Daiki Hashioka is gradually being integrated into the squad and may not be considered for his debut at Anfield. Manager Edwards is likely to rely on the same group of players from Sunday's defeat, with Cauley Woodrow expected to fill in for Adebayo upfront.
